Electronics Recycling/Document Shred Day

Each year, or every other year, Egyptian Electric Cooperative joins forces with the Jackson County Health Department to host a yearly Electronics Recycling/Document Shredding Day here at our Murphysboro office.

For 2022 we hosted a spring Electronics Recycling/Document Shredding Day here outside of our office on Saturday, April 9, 2022 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. In 2020, we had 13,280lb of electronic items to recycle and were taken to Southern Recycling. Please see the below document/flyer to view what is acceptable and unacceptable for recycling. This is limited to non-business individuals, with a limit of 10 electronic items per vehicle.

Document shredding is be done on-site – so this is a great opportunity to clean out old files and confidential documents, such as tax returns, bank statements, insurance papers, etc. We can also shred emptied manila folders. Paper clips, staples, and small plastic binders are also accepted.

As we host them, no appointments are necessary, and is open to those in our service territory, including those who are not member-consumers.
