As shared at our Annual Meeting on July 10, the cost of providing reliable electric service continues to rise and will soon be reflected in member bills. The changes you’ll see on your upcoming August bill are related to two adjustments:
-
The Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) is increasing due to higher wholesale power costs from our power supplier, Southern Illinois Power Cooperative (SIPC).
-
The Distribution Cost Adjustment (DCA) is rising due to inflation and ongoing tariffs that continue to drive up the cost of materials and overall operations.
For usage in July (reflected on August bills), please expect an overall increase of $0.006 per kWh, which equates to $6.00 more for every 1,000 kWh used.
Here’s a breakdown:
-
PCA: Increasing from –$0.003/kWh to $0.002/kWh (a $0.005/kWh increase)
-
DCA: Increasing from $0.006/kWh to $0.007/kWh (a $0.001/kWh increase)
The overall impact on your bill is expected to range between 3% and 3.5% this year, depending on usage for the average consumer.
Unfortunately, we do anticipate additional increases into next year, though it’s still unclear what those changes will be or when they will occur.
Please know we will keep you informed so you can plan accordingly — and as always, we encourage you to reach out with questions.
