Key Takeaways from Annual Meeting 2025

If you missed the meeting, here are the key takeaways:
  • In a contested election, the cooperative membership re-elected Directors Kevin Liefer of Red Bud, Kevin Bame of Murphysboro, and Ken Jarrett of Jacob to serve a three-year term on the EECA Board of Directors. Alongside the Executive Vice President/General Manager and management team, the Board monitors the cooperative’s financial position, review policy, and stay informed on key operational matters.
  • EECA made a rate increase, which will be reflected on August bills. This is to keep up with rapidly increasing costs to supply power to the membership due to a rise in power supply costs, and substantial price hikes in materials due to anticipated tariffs. By the end of 2025, we estimate an overall increase of 5.6% in members’ bills, with additional adjustments expected in 2026.
  • EECA will be returning $1,347,967 in Capital Credits this summer to members who had service in 1995 and 1996.

This year, EECA awarded 25 prizes through a drawing. The winners and their prizes were:
